What size pets can use this pet door?
Flap sizes range from small to XXL. Small sizes are typically used for cats and very small dogs like Chihuahuas and Yorkies. Medium through large sizes fit most household dogs such as French Bulldogs, Beagles, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers. XL to XXL are designed for very large dogs like German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Boerboels.
Some cats can also use medium flap sizes depending on their size and comfort level.
These are common examples of breeds for each size range, but every pet is different—your dog may need a size up or down depending on their build. We’re always happy to help you choose the right fit.
Why Not Just Cut Into The Existing Glass Door?
Most sliding glass doors use tempered insulated glass. During manufacturing, tempered glass is heat-treated to make it stronger and safer. Once that process is complete, the glass cannot be cut because cutting it can cause the entire panel to break.
The glass is also manufactured as a sealed insulated unit, so it is not designed to be modified after it has been made.
Instead, we replace the existing glass panel with a custom-built unit that includes the pet door. This provides the proper fit while maintaining the look, function, and performance of your sliding glass door.
